What time is it?

This may be an urban myth but I choose to believe it because it’s brilliant.

It captures the enduring challenge we all face of forcing out past regrets and future anxiety in favour of facing only the present.

Apparently, the British R&B star turned bodybuilder turned rapper turned R&B star Craig David has a novel response to the question ‘what time is it?’

Not for Mr David the wrist-based trappings of fame and fortune favoured by his fellow freestylers; no rolex, no Tag Heuer, no Breitling.

Not even my personal watch of choice, the Casio F-91W.

When Craig is asked for the time he simply lifts his left wrist to the eyes of the enquirer to show them the simple hand-drawn watch strap and circular watch-face biro-ed on to his arm with a single word at it’s centre.

“The time”, he says, “is:
