The best writers I know learnt this the hard way.

Getting it right is perfectionism.

Procrastination.

Self-judgement.

Fear of failure.

Getting it written is graft.

Showing up.

Self-expression.

Courage to try.

Your only duty is to turn up at the page.

“The first draft of anything is shit”.

But shit is one better than incomplete. Or non-existent.

And a first draft is not a final draft.

The play, the book, the application, the bid, the presentation, the article, the picture, the strategy, the plan, the proposal, the post.

Only you can write your story. With your own internal logic.

Trust that what is unique to you will be universal to others.

Get it done not dusted.

Then start again.

After all, writing is re-writing.

So get it written before you get it right.
