Inwards, onwards & upwards
A journal of invitations, ideas & inspiration to keep you moving from where you are to where you want to be
The heart is a muscle
As those of you who read this newsletter regularly will know, I’m a big fan of 80s movies; in particular the films of John Hughes and Christopher Columbus.
My guilty pleasure is those big mindless superhero movies; chewing gum for the brain.
But by far my favourite films are the ones that make me cry…
Can any good come of suffering?
My therapist asked me ‘can any good come from suffering?’
I couldn’t answer her; until now.
Because I have had a revelation about happiness.
And it is this:
Bored of being bad at interviews? Try this instead.
Your brain is a controllable device.

Reframe a limiting belief in six steps.
3 Life-Changing Moments
I’ve had three life-altering theatrical experiences. Three moments in theatre that radically changed me.
Or did they?
Let me explain.
Two-storey skyline
Arriving in London at 25, I was ambitious for summits to scale.
The city architecture was a constant reminder there was always more I could be doing: starting something new, reaching higher, improving.
My motto; ‘onwards and upwards’.
The heart is a muscle
The heart
The heart
The heart
The heart is a muscle.
And I wanna make it strong.
I’m a romantic idealist whose coping mechanism is pragmatic realism
How we think becomes what we think.
The glass half full. Or half empty.
Not bad weather. Just the wrong clothes.
Thoughts are presented to us by our brain for consideration: what we do with those thoughts is up to us.
Life intruding on life is life
Life intruding on life is life.
All we can do is live it.
Not as we thought it would be. Or as it was supposed to be.
But as it is.
