It’s easy to be in charge; it’s hard to take responsibility
A lot of us who aspired to leadership grew up believing it’s about being in charge.
But just as it is easier to be told what to do than to be empowered to find a solution ourselves
So it is harder to take responsibility than be in charge.
To truly prepare for leadership in the cultural sector, there's one crucial shift you must make.
If you're gearing up for leadership, it's likely because you excel in your current role.
You've mastered your craft and gained valuable management experience along the way. But these roles focus you on execution.
And the essence of leadership lies not in doing.
We need to reframe what we think about when we think about leading.
So often we default to negative pre-conceptions about being in charge.
That it is hard.
That it is all-consuming.
That is is ever-changing.
That we are, in fact, ever really in charge at all.
As a writer, talent counts for nothing if you don’t do this one thing: persist.
All creative careers require luck.
Persistence is the siege you lay on fortune.
On the other side of unoriginality lies originality

You just need to stay on the bus long enough to reach it.
The bus marked: perseverance.
Perseverance requires purpose, progress, people - and Perspective
Life can be tough. But I’ve only recently discovered just how tough. To persevere, I’m learning you need purpose, progress, people - and one more thing:
Perspective.
